Deputy Clerk/Legal Assistant
The Morrow County Court of Common Pleas, as a recipient of the Ohio Court Backlog Reduction Program through grant funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), is hiring a full-time Deputy Clerk/Legal Assistant.  This position is a 24-month grant funded position with no guarantee of employment beyond the duration of the grant.  The Deputy Clerk/Legal Assistant is responsible for providing general administrative assistance to the Judges and Magistrates.  Duties will include, but are not limited to, processing pleadings and documents; opening new cases and assigning case numbers to the cases within CourtView; docketing the information contained in the pleadings or documents; scanning the documents in to CourtView; preparing service forms to serve parties; and, mailing copies of items filed to attorneys and parties involved in cases. In addition, the Deputy Clerk/Legal Assistant answers questions either in person or via phone/fax/email regarding cases, prepares transportation forms, schedules cases to be heard before the Judges and Magistrates, and makes contact when needed with law enforcement agencies, schools, and attorneys regarding cases.  The Deputy Clerk/Legal Assistant will provide administrative assistance where and when needed. The Deputy Clerk/Legal Assistant must possess exceptional inter-personal skills and have the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Probation Officer

The Morrow County Court of Common Pleas is currently hiring a full-time PROBATION OFFICER.  The applicant should have a general understanding and ability to utilize Evidence Based Practices, must have a working knowledge of basic computer programs, have good communication skills, and possess the ability to multi-task.  The applicant must be able to initially and annually pass the following:  Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy Firearms course; Taser training course; and, a defensive tactics training course.  The educational requirement for this position is:  a Bachelor’s Degree; or, an Associate’s Degree with prior experience in the criminal justice field.  The starting pay rate for this position is $19.25/hour ($40,040 annually).  Interested applicants should forward a cover letter, resume, and a Morrow County application (available on morrowcountyohio.gov) to Greg Thomas, Court Administrator and Chief Probation Officer, 48 East High St, Mount Gilead, Ohio 43338 or greg.thomas@co.morrow.oh.us.  Applicant must be willing and able to pass a criminal background check(s).  The deadline to apply for this position is November 18, 2022; however, please note that applications will be considered as they are received.
